Bikes, beer and a great time with friends.

2010 West Michigan Bike Show

Outside the ground covered in snow, inside everyone was full of high octane fuels dieing to ride their favorite bikes there.

Last weekend bike enthusiasts from all over joined at the Devos Place downtown Grand Rapids to share their passion for motorcycles at the 2010 West Michigan Motorcycle Show.

Whether they wear leather chaps and ride Harleys, ride fancy Italian made race bikes, throw it up on one wheel whenever they get the chance, or don’t even ride bikes at all, they gathered to share the passion of two wheeled riding in good spirits.

Many dealerships, customizing shops, and bike owners from all around the area brought their best bikes to share with the public. Such a wide spread of bikes gathered in one room had to have had the public confused.

Where to start? First sense to hit you walking into the Devos Place Saturday morning was the fresh smell of leather products and the site of the bikers who were still riding their dreams from the 70’s.

Greeting you as you walked in the doors were the boys from Harley Davidson Grand Rapids and there wide variety of classic bikes.

Next came the display from your friends at Fox Yamaha with a Limited Edition Valentino Rossi Yamaha R1 welcoming everyone into the 2010 show.

Venturing a little further making your way past the customizing shops displays of wide tired, slammed, shinny choppers and then you were on your way to the fashion show runway lined by the bike coral made up of costume choppers.

After working your way through the crowds of people you found Village Motorsports and Shawmut Hills sites. A two traffic stoppers had to be Village Motorsports turbo Razor and the studded Honda Ruckus.

Your local stunt boys, GR’s Finest and the West Michigan Riders table attracted groups of spectators as they came by to watch the stunt videos on their giant TV. Even the cruiser riders, older couples, families all stopped by to watch the tricks and grab a few stickers.

Moving along where many of us missed the Hooters girls from last year posing on custom choppers, Wiemer Customs filled the space with a few of their exotic custom rides such as a stretched out 1973 Triumph Bonneville 750.

Although the show was smaller in more ways than one, beer and mixed drinks were flowing and laughter was heard all around. Some may think the show is struggling but it is up to us to make the show a good time. Falling perfectly a few weeks before riding season the bike show has helped everyone feel like its that much closer.
